The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, registered guides, ski patrollers, and anyone who spends extended time in the outdoors recreating. Learn how to manage an emergency in the backcountry from a SOLO certified instructor. The WFR class is 72+ hours long (eight-day) and is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies and Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. Additional topics, such as CPR, are also included. Lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations and receive a Stop The Bleed®, SOLO WFR and BLS/ CPR certification.

The Minimum Age is sixteen (16) years old and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Upon successful completion, students will receive a three-year SOLO WFA, two-year BLS/ CPR certification and a national Stop the Bleed® certification. Start time is 9:00 am and we will finish around 5:00 pm each day.

Please bring a day pack and what you would typically carry for a day hike, water, and note taking material. We will be spending a considerable amount of time outside so please dress appropriately.
